I’m so excited to bring you my first ever crochet design!

This little sweater is designed to fit the 38cm Miniland and 34cm Minikane Dolls. It has a simple design for a classic look, or you can add your own flair by doing contrast ribbing or using striped yarn.

You only need about 100 metres of 8ply/DK weight yarn, so it’s perfect for using up those leftovers from previous projects!

Notes:
  • US abbreviations
  • Difficulty Level: Intermediate
  • Before commencing the pattern, ensure you work a swatch in order to meet gauge. You may need to substitute the recommended hook size. The neckline is close fitting with no closures, therefore if you are a tight crocheter you may need to use the large size hook for the neck ribbing.
  • This sweater has been designed to be loose fitting in order to make the doll easy to dress. There is 6cm of positive ease in the body and 3.5cm in the sleeve.
  • If you are making this sweater for the Minikane 34cm Doll you may want to reduce the rounds of the sleeves as their arms are slightly shorter than the Miniland 38cm Doll. In this case omit round 4 of the sleeve instructions.
  • If you are not familiar with Foundation Double Crochet there is a great tutorial here.
  • CH2 at beginning of each round does not count as a DC.
  • For the first round of the sleeves, the DC2TOGs in the corners are designed to close the gaps under the arms. When the instructions refer to working into the post of the marked stitch, you are working around the post of that stitch as opposed to the top of the stitch.

Abbreviations:
  • BLO = back loop only
  • BPDC = back post double crochet

  • PM = place marker
  • RM = remove marker
  • RS = right side
  • WS = wrong side
  • CH = chain
  • DC = double crochet
  • DC2TOG = double crochet 2 stitches together
  • FDC = foundation double crochet
  • SC = single crochet
  • SL ST = slip stitch
  • ST = stitch
  • STS = stitches
